Riverheads's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Stonewall Jackson Generals. The victory continues a trend for the Gladiators in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won nine in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-18, 25-15.

Meleah Shirley paced Riverheads' offense, picking up 16 kills. Shirley got some help from Chesney Dunlap and her 25 assists. Hannah Williams controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Riverheads' record now sits at 5-12. As for Stonewall Jackson, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-18.

Riverheads and Stonewall Jackson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Gladiators (ranked 305th) will meet Fort Defiance (ranked third) at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Stonewall Jackson will challenge Madison County at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (425 vs. 172).
