Basketball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the El Paso Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Silver Foxes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1177th, while the Tigers are ranked 520th).

Despite the loss, Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Elnathan Pieri, who posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Roacho, who earned eight points.

El Paso had a senior duo take command as Sebastian Ruvalcaba went 5 for 7 on his way to 14 points and Brody John had nine points and seven boards. Sebastian Ordonez was another key player, putting up seven points.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-21. As for El Paso, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-13.

Jefferson has already played their next contest, a 53-44 loss against Canutillo on the 31st. As for El Paso, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-48 victory against Burges on the 31st.
