Softball Game Preview: Canyon Ridge Riverhawks vs. Mountain Home Tigers

The Canyon Ridge Riverhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Mountain Home Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon Ridge will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Canyon Ridge will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Jerome, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Riverhawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tigers 13-12. The Riverhawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Henley Collins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dani Toolson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Canyon Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Mountain Home was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 7-3 to Buhl.

Avery Blair was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Canyon Ridge's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Mountain Home, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Canyon Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Mountain Home struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
