Mount Airy and Corvian Community squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mount Airy had to settle for second. They fell 14-7 to the Corvian Community Cardinals. The Granite Bears' defeat signaled the end of their 29-game winning streak dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Mount Airy lost, don't look at Taeshon Martin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 123 yards and one touchdown. Martin is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.

Even if they lost, Mount Airy's defense still kept up the pressure with 5.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by DJ Joyce and Ethan Clabo, who racked up all 5.5 sacks between them.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Noah Best and Cam Johnson. Best gained 100 total yards and a touchdown while Johnson rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown.

Mount Airy's loss ended an 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-1. As for Corvian Community, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0.

Mount Airy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Corvian Community, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 28-19 victory against Mountain Heritage on the 13th.
