Softball Recap: James Lick Comes Up Short

James Lick extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They came up short against the Independence 76ers, falling 16-1. The match marked the Comets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

James Lick saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Perez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Perez has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played.

As for Independence, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Independence's side, they got a massive performance out of Laila Morales, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave Morales a new career-high. Ava Sanchez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
