Recap: J.H. Rose Rampants vs. Fike Demons
This season hasn't been kind to the J.H. Rose Rampants, who are still winless after their fifth match. They fell just short of Fike by a score of 41-38. While losing is never fun, J.H. Rose can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Fike is ranked 186th).
Several Rampants players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tamyah Rhodes, who scored ten points along with three steals. Cameron Daise was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Even though they lost, J.H. Rose were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fike only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Jewel Brewington, who scored 26 points for Fike. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brewington has scored at least 25% of Fike's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Skinner, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
J.H. Rose's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Fike, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2.
J.H. Rose and Bertie will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Bertie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday. As for Fike, they will head out on the road to face off against Beddingfield at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Beddingfield will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
