Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kate Newsome and Mary Mehan Lead Oakcrest to Victory

Oakcrest won the last time they faced Calvary Temple and things went their way on Monday too. The Oakcrest Chargers enjoyed a cozy 57-42 win over Calvary Temple. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Leading Oakcrest to victory were Mary Mehan and Kate Newsome. Mehan dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 boards, while Newsome posted 23 points and six rebounds. Mehan is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Medina, who put up four points and five rebounds.

Oakcrest's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Calvary Temple, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Oakcrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-43 defeat against Seton on the 28th. As for Calvary Temple, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-38 win against Evergreen Christian on the 31st.
