Football Game Preview: Carey Panthers vs. Rockland Bulldogs

Carey has gone a perfect 5-0 against Rockland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Carey will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Carey is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Hansen, who was ranked 17th at the time (Carey was ranked sixth). The Panthers breezed past the Huskies to the tune of 44-14 on Friday. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 27.2 points per game.

It was another big night for Stockton Sears, who rushed for 191 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for seven yards and one TD. His longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carey was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 328 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 210 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Carey didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sears and Madden Perkes. Sears' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 136 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rockland). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Watersprings 68-8. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with Watersprings: they've now won five in a row.

Rockland's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Carey, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything came up roses for Carey against Rockland when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 64-6 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
