Football Game Recap: Woodsboro Eagles vs. Marine Military Academy Leathernecks

Marine Military Academy came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Woodsboro, but Amarian Zambezi wouldn't allow it. The Eagles strolled past the Leathernecks with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 41-22 for which the team can thank Zambezi, who rushed for 230 yards while picking up 12.8 yards per carry. He didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and snagged an interception.

Several Leathernecks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dash Varner, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Brandon Smith, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Woodsboro picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Marine Military Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodsboro will welcome La Villa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marine Military Academy, they will be playing at home against Agua Dulce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Leathernecks will need to watch out since the Longhorns have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
