Preview: Yerington Lions vs. Sierra Lutheran Falcons
Yerington has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Sierra Lutheran Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Yerington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
Even though Battle Mountain scored an imposing 55 points, Yerington still came out on top. Yerington took their match against Battle Mountain 63-55.
Yerington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colby Rowe, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rowe has scored all season. Kp Picotte jr was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Sierra Lutheran's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 70-47 loss at the hands of North Tahoe. Sierra Lutheran has struggled against North Tahoe recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Yerington has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Sierra Lutheran, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Yerington strolled past Sierra Lutheran in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 61-45. Does Yerington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sierra Lutheran turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
