Preview: Clay Center Tigers vs. Hesston Swathers
The Clay Center Tigers will square off against the Hesston Swathers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clay Center will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Clay Center can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 55-10 victory over Clearwater. 55 seems to be a good number for Clay Center as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Brody Hayes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 98 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Eisaac Girton and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Clay Center's victory.
Meanwhile, Hesston sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-17 win over Marysville on Friday. The victory was just what Hesston needed coming off of a 42-13 defeat in their prior contest.
Hesston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reed Friesen led the charge by rushing for 84 yards, while also throwing for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Fry was another key contributor, picking up 58 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Clay Center's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Hesston, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Clay Center and Hesston were almost perfectly matched up when the teams last played back in October of 2019, but Clay Center suffered an agonizing 28-27 defeat. Can Clay Center avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
