Softball Recap: Forest Hills Rangers vs. Central Cambria Red Devils
It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Forest Hills ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Central Cambria Red Devils 9-7. That's more bragging rights for the Rangers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Avery Smiach made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
