Volleyball Recap: Western Reserve Takes a Loss

After flying high against Heartland Christian on Tuesday, Western Reserve came back down to earth. The Blue Devils lost 3-0 to the Open Door Christian Patriots on Thursday. The Blue Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-13, 25-16.

Despite the loss, Western Reserve still got an impressive performance from Angela Desanto, who had 16 digs and one assist. Desanto is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 14 games she's played.

Leading Open Door Christian to victory were Sammy Comer and Maggie Gillum. Comer had 12 digs and four aces, while Gillum had 11 digs and four aces. The dominant performance also gave Gillum a new career-high in assists (two). Paige Pachinger was another key player, hitting 68.8% for 23 kills and 18 digs and one block.

Western Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Open Door Christian, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 21-4.

Western Reserve does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Open Door Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Central Christian on the 30th.
