Basketball Recap: South Sumter Takes a Loss

South Sumter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-30 back in November of 2024.

Hope Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Domiya Foreman led the charge by putting up 18 points and eight steals. Foreman's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Riley, who posted four points and 13 boards.

South Sumter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Hope Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

South Sumter has already played their next game (against Lake Minneola), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hope Academy has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Eustis.
