Recap: Theodore Bobcats vs. Murphy Panthers
The Theodore Bobcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 85-75 victory over Murphy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Theodore.
Theodore's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Houston Cunningham led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Cunningham's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden "JJ" Bush, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Murphy still got an impressive performance from Bryan Jackson, who scored 21 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Cordairus Dixon, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Theodore has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. As for Murphy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Theodore will challenge Blount at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blount is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Murphy, they will head out on the road to face off against Saraland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saraland has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
