Basketball Game Preview: Durango Trailblazers vs. Las Vegas Wildcats

The Durango Trailblazers will challenge the Las Vegas Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Durango is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked 12th at the time (Durango was ranked 17th). Durango took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty on Friday. The Trailblazers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Emmanuel Peter put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Durango is 7-3 when Peter posts eight or more rebounds, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Morrow, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Durango smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas took a blow against Centennial on Friday, falling 90-60. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Las Vegas' defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Durango, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
