Basketball Game Preview: Cherokee Trail Cougars vs. Mullen Mustangs

The Cherokee Trail Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Mullen Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cherokee Trail has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 25.

Cherokee Trail's tournament run continued when they took on Arapahoe on Thursday. Cherokee Trail took a 60-41 bruising from Arapahoe. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Warriors are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Mullen came up short against Cherry Creek on Thursday and fell 64-53. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cherokee Trail will have to contain Kevin Lewis as he made an impact in Mullen's last game. He posted 21 points. The dominant performance gave Lewis a new career-high in points. Grayson Bauer was another key player, putting up ten points.

Cherokee Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Mullen, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Cherokee Trail ended up a good deal behind Mullen in their previous meeting last Wednesday, losing 69-50. Can Cherokee Trail avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
