MaxPreps 2016-17 Delaware preseason high school girls basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

Ursuline Academy leads the way, but also watch out for Sanford, Caravel, Concord and St. Elizabeth in the Delaware girls basketball #MaxPrepsFab5.

2016-17 Delaware preseason high school girls basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Ursuline Academy (Wilmington)
Head coach: John Noonan
2015-16 record: 19-5, state champion

Most every class is represented in the Raiders' probable starting lineup as they aim to three-peat as state champions. Senior Kryshell Gorder, junior Maggie Connolly and sophomore Alisha Lewis are the returning starters and most likely will be joined by sophomore Yanni Hendley-mccalla and junior Olivia Mason. Senior Lindsay Brown, junior Allison Olmstead and sophomore Kay Wulah are expected to play significant minutes.

2. Sanford (Hockessin)
Head coach: Marcus Thompson
2015-16 record: 17-5

Sanford's returning starters from last year's team that reached the state title game are all sophomores. Lauren Park-Lane, Olivia Tucker and Samantha Pollich will be joined by first-time regular starters junior Lexi Fotakos and sophomore Kendra Warren as the Warriors shoot for a return trip to the finals.

3. Caravel (Bear)
Head coach: Kristen Caldwell
2015-16 record: 15-7

Caravel returns all five starters and a top newcomer that give the Bucs the potential to be a state title contender. Seniors Grace Lange, juniors Maia Bryson and Kaylee Otlowski, and sophomores Karli Cauley and Ondia Brown all return and welcome sophomore Sasha Marvel, who is expected to play major minutes.

4. Concord (Wilmington)
Head coach: John Armstrong
2015-16 record: 21-2



Concord was undefeated before losing its final regular season game and then the state tournament semifinal game to eventual state champion Ursuline Academy. Junior guard Aahliyah Selby, a first-team All-State selection, leads an experienced lineup that includes returning senior starters Jamiyah Dennis and Caroline Procak, and junior Zhan'e Snow.

5. St. Elizabeth (Wilmington)
Head coach: Dan Cooney
2015-16 record: 17-4

Senior forward Alanna Speaks, senior point guard Alexis Bromwell and junior center Alexis Lee return as starters to give the Vikings a talented veteran lineup that will be even stronger with the addition of freshman guard Sha'nia Davis.
