Basketball Recap: Ritchie County Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ritchie County can now relate to. They took a blow against the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights on Tuesday, falling 80-27. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Maroon Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhett Johnson, who posted 15 points and five boards.

Ritchie County's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Ritchie County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they will challenge WestSide at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday. Wheeling Central Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matchups -- so hopefully WestSide likes a good challenge.
