Softball Recap: Marquette Comes Up Short

Marquette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Escanaba Eskymos, falling 20-5. That's two games in a row now that the Sentinels have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Marquette saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Marquette's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Escanaba, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marquette will venture away from home to challenge Menominee at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Maroons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.14 runs per game on average), something the Sentinels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Escanaba, they will head out on the road to face off against Gladstone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves will roll in looking for their 19th straight win, something the Eskymos surely won't give up without a fight.
