Basketball Recap: Central Academy of Technology & Arts Falls Despite Big Games from Justice Hegwood and Nia Udenze + How To Watch

Central Academy of Technology & Arts lost against Highland Tech last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cougars fell 41-28 to the Rams. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while the Rams are ranked 125th).

Despite the defeat, Central Academy of Technology & Arts had strong showings from Nia Udenze, who posted eight points and 17 rebounds, and Justice Hegwood, who almost dropped a triple-double with 15 points, nine boards, and nine steals. That was a full 53.6% of the Cougars' points, marking the sixth time in a row Hegwood has earned more than a third of the team's points. Jordyn Whitford also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lily Johnson was her usual excellent self, shooting 46% from the field to rack up 17 points along with seven assists and three steals for Highland Tech. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 46% in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Redmond, who scored 11 points and five boards.

Central Academy of Technology & Arts' record now sits at 0-7. As for Highland Tech, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
