Softball Game Preview: Powhatan Indians vs. Thomas Dale Knights

The Powhatan Indians will square off against the Thomas Dale Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Powhatan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Powhatan nor Cosby made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Indians fell just short of the Titans by a score of 4-3.

Powhatan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mazie Harmon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Thomas Dale and James River Midlothian, and James River Midlothian kept the tradition alive. The Knights came up short against the Rapids on Friday, falling 15-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Rapids since May 1, 2017.

Powhatan's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Thomas Dale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Everything went Powhatan's way against Thomas Dale in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as Powhatan made off with a 14-0 win. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
