Basketball Recap: Freeburg Midgets vs. Murphysboro Red Devils
Freeburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Murphysboro Red Devils. The Midgets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
Brady Kerr and Robert Fritz certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Kerr posted ten points, while Fritz earned nine points. Kerr is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.
Freeburg's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Murphysboro, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Freeburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-55 defeat against Marissa/Coulterville on the 23rd. As for Murphysboro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-46 victory against Sparta on the 24th.
