Basketball Recap: Summers County Bobcats vs. Lincoln County Panthers

Summers County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 72-43 defeat at the hands of the Lincoln County Panthers. The Bobcats lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 77-71 score last time.

Eli Smith was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 23 en route to 34 points along with seven boards and three steals for Lincoln County. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Banks, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Summers County's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Lincoln County, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.

Summers County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 72-52 defeat against Summit Christian Academy on the 2nd. As for Lincoln County, they will square off against Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoover will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lincoln County surely won't give up without a fight.
