Basketball Recap: Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sherburne-Earlville last Saturday, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill came back down to earth. The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils lost 61-37 to the Central Valley Academy Thunder on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now lost seven in a row.

Central Valley Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Smalls, who posted 15 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Jacquays, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points.

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Central Valley Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Proctor the next time they take the court. Central Valley Academy will host Proctor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on December 17th.
