Basketball Recap: Reagan Takes a Loss

Reagan lost against North Miami Beach back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Reagan Bison were dealt a 50-15 defeat at the hands of the North Miami Beach Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while the Chargers are ranked 210th).

Reagan's loss came despite strong showings from Camila Reyes and Sophia Naranjo-Palma. Reyes posted eight points, while Naranjo-Palma earned four points and four steals. Naranjo-Palma has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 25 times she's played.

It was another big night for Serena Volcy, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals for North Miami Beach. That makes it three consecutive games in which Volcy has scored at least a third of North Miami Beach's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Rodney, who scored five points.

Reagan has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for North Miami Beach, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.

Reagan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-29 victory against South Miami on the 31st. North Miami Beach has also already played their next game, a 39-17 win against Mourning on the 30th.
