Baseball Recap: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Gibault Catholic Hawks        
        
		
            
 In what's become a running theme this season, Valmeyer gave their fans yet another huge  victory on Monday. They put the hurt on the Gibault Catholic Hawks with a sharp  8-1 win. The  victory was some much needed relief for Valmeyer as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
  Luke Blackwell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Blackwell has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in four consecutive pitching appearances. Blackwell was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Chase Snyder was  incredible,  going 4-for-4 with a  home run, five  RBI,  and three  runs.  Troy Neff was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 On Gibault Catholic's side,  Tyler Frierdich was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring a  run and  stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
 Valmeyer's win  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 12-8. As for Gibault Catholic, their defeat was  their fourth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 8-16.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valmeyer's homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Marissa/Coulterville at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Marissa/Coulterville is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.8  runs per game  this season. As for Gibault Catholic, they will be playing at home against Belleville East at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
