Softball Recap: West Vikings vs. North Stars

Sadly, West is still looking for their first win of the season after 12 games. Their rough 19-0 defeat to the North Stars on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West of the 26-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March.

For North's part, Kaylee Simkins looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (she also didn't allow any walks). Simkins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Bayleigh Wood was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Natalie De Leon was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for North, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

While West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
