Volleyball Game Preview: Taft Eagles vs. Niles Notre Dame Dons

Taft is 0-3 against Niles Notre Dame since March of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Dons at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Taft sitting on six straight victories and Niles Notre Dame on eight.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Taft came out on top against Jones by a score of 2-0.

While Taft won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Niles Notre Dame earned a 2-0 win over Joliet Catholic on Wednesday.

Niles Notre Dame never let Joliet Catholic on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-19.

Taft pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Niles Notre Dame, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.

Taft came up short against Niles Notre Dame when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
