Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Lapeer Lakers Homeschool's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Lapeer Lakers Homeschool unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wyoming HomeSchool Warrior. The Lakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warrior apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2018.

Despite the loss, Lapeer Lakers Homeschool saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reed Cotton went 8 of 18 en route to 27 points. The match was Cotton's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Lomasney, who posted 15 points.

Lapeer Lakers Homeschool's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Wyoming HomeSchool, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Lapeer Lakers Homeschool has already played their next game, a 44-26 win against Kalamazoo HomeSchool on the 14th. As for Wyoming HomeSchool, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Barry County Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
