            Softball Recap: Whitwell Tigers vs. South Pittsburg Pirates        
        
		
        
        
            Whitwell had lost five straight on the road, but  on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-13 to make it six. They fell just short of the South Pittsburg Pirates by a score of  2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by  just one  run.
 Whitwell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kasie Britton, who  went 1-for-3 with one  triple and one  RBI. That  triple was  Britton's first of the season.
As for South Pittsburg, the  win was  the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-9. That's two games straight that they have won by  just one  run.
 On South Pittsburg's side,  Kaylee Kilgore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Kilgore has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
 Whitwell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  match,  a  7-0  defeat against Gordonsville on the 16th. As for South Pittsburg, they have also already played their next contest,  a  2-1  loss against Jo Byrns on the 16th.
