Baseball Game Preview: La Canada Spartans vs. Oak Park Eagles

The La Canada Spartans will challenge the Oak Park Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither La Canada nor Oak Park posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Oak Park will be up against a hot La Canada team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. La Canada came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Marshall.

La Canada got a great performance from Scott Burns as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Burns a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, La Canada saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Park, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. La Canada is 2-1 when Park posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Finn Flowerhogan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Oak Park's offense. They came up short against Camarillo on Friday, falling 6-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Scorpions: they've now lost nine in a row.

Oak Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1. As for La Canada, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
