Football Recap: Taravella Falls to Northeast in First Game of Season

Taravella unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northeast Hurricanes on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Defeat or not, Taravella got some senior leadership from Shane Thompson and Eddie James Jr.. Thompson threw for 339 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, while James Jr. picked up 175 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The win got Northeast back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taravella is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Pompano Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northeast, they will head out to take on Dillard at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. The matchup will give the Hurricanes their first taste of in-conference action this season.
