Softball Recap: Deer Park Wins Going Away Against North Central

Deer Park lost to North Central back in March of 2016, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. Deer Park put the hurt on North Central with a sharp 26-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stags.

Mady Ellingson and Hailey Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ellingson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Thompson struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. At bat, Ellingson scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Thompson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Sammy Fausti was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Reese Culverhouse was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Deer Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Central only posted an OBP of .318.

Deer Park's record now sits at 2-0. As for North Central, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Deer Park beat North Central by a score of 20-1 later that day.
