Basketball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Grand Valley

Grand Valley extended their road winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Daniel Gronewoller. Everything went the Grand Valley Cardinals' way against the Olathe Pirates on Saturday as the Grand Valley Cardinals made off with a 75-52 victory thanks in part to Gronewoller, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Andrew Horner, who went 6 for 11 en route to 18 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Olathe lost, don't look at Isaiah Gordon. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points and six rebounds. That was a full 36.5% of Olathe's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Almanza, who put up four points and seven boards.

Grand Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Olathe, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Grand Valley will square off against Rifle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Valley is facing Rifle at the right time seeing as Rifle is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Olathe, they will head out on the road to face off against Telluride at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Olathe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.
