Basketball Game Preview: Hobbton Wildcats vs. North Duplin Rebels

Hobbton and North Duplin are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Hobbton Wildcats just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the North Duplin Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Monday, Hobbton didn't have quite enough to beat Lakewood and fell 66-64. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 531st, while the Leopards are ranked 208th).

Meanwhile, North Duplin ended up a good deal behind Lakewood last Friday and lost 68-52. The Rebels were down 56-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Hobbton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for North Duplin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Hobbton couldn't quite finish off North Duplin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 54-51. Can Hobbton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
