Softball Game Preview: Elko Indians vs. Dayton Dust Devils

For the second straight game, Elko will face off against Dayton. The Indians will be playing at home against the Dust Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Elko is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Elko turned things around against Dayton on Friday. They never let the Dust Devils get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Not much got past Taylor Hunton, who gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Dayton off the board. Hunton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kallista Crouch and Addison Seipp did most of the damage at the plate: Crouch went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Seipp went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Seipp has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Abrianna Lesbo, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Dayton is on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-15. As for Elko, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elko hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Dayton struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
