Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Cowboys vs. Buckley Griffins

The Canyon Cowboys are taking a road trip to square off against the Buckley Griffins at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Canyon has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 8.

Canyon fell victim to Foothill Tech and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 1-0.

Oakwood hit Buckley with a five-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Griffins came up short against the Owls, falling 9-2. The loss continues a trend for the Griffins in their meetings with the Owls: they've now lost five in a row.

Buckley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Rubin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Buckley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.

Canyon couldn't quite get it done against Buckley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as they fell 12-8. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
