Volleyball Recap: Citrus Valley Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Willow Taylor and Sophia Swogger + How To Watch

Citrus Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Redlands East Valley Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Citrus Valley ultimately came up short, they really made Redlands East Valley work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-15, 26-24, 23-25, 15-12.

Sophia Swogger and Willow Taylor certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Swogger had 28 digs and seven assists, while Taylor had eight kills, three digs, and two aces. Swogger has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 27 times she's played.

Citrus Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Redlands East Valley, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Coming up, Citrus Valley will take on Yucaipa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Redlands East Valley, they will challenge Redlands at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Terriers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
