Basketball Recap: Khanye Moss' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mater Lakes Academy over Norland

Mater Lakes Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 65-52 to the Norland Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Vikings are ranked 59th).

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khanye Moss, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Perez, who posted 13 points.

Norland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lorenzo Major out in front who put up 13 points and eight assists. Another player making a difference was Anthony Walcott, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points.

Mater Lakes Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Norland, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6.

Mater Lakes Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-37 loss against Chaminade-Madonna on the 4th. As for Norland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-52 win against Menendez on the 3rd.
