Volleyball Recap: Bishop Moore Falls Short Against Ranked Winter Park

Bishop Moore faced Winter Park in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Hornets fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Bishop Moore started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-16, 15-8.

Their offense was headlined by Alexander Cameron and Alberto Ramirez, who picked up 16 kills apiece. They got some help from Gabe Callejas and his 49 assists. Finally, Philip Hanna kept Bishop Moore's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Winter Park can attribute much of their success to Nicholas Baker, who had 12 digs and six assists. That's the most assists Baker has posted since back in March.

Bishop Moore's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Winter Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Moore will welcome St. Cloud at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winter Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Brantley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
