Basketball Recap: Ray Takes a Loss

Ray was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Duncan Wildkats, falling 41-19. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Wildkats are ranked 131st).

Duncan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Kempton, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Kempton has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sofia Harris, who had four points and six steals.

Ray's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Duncan, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Ray wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-11 win against Lourdes Catholic on the 1st. Duncan has also already played their next game, a 49-36 defeat against Willcox on the 3rd.
