Basketball Recap: Westminster Wolves vs. George Washington Patriots

The Westminster Wolves lost against the George Washington Patriots back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Westminster suffered a tough 67-42 loss at the hands of the Patriots. Westminster was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-13.

When it comes to explaining why Westminster lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daigan Gray. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Dennis Ross was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.

George Washington had a senior duo take command as Buck Sorrells scored 14 points along with two blocks and Danny Yonas scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yonas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jarius Dicks, who scored eight points.

Westminster has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for George Washington, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7.

Westminster will face off against the Commanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for George Washington, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wolverines at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Chaparral is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
