Basketball Game Preview: Cherryvale Chargers vs. Fredonia Yellowjackets

Cherryvale is 8-2 against Fredonia since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cherryvale Chargers will square off against the Fredonia Yellowjackets. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Cherryvale came up short against Erie and fell 50-40. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Landon Fox, who went 7 for 10 en route to 19 points. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Carter Rousselle was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Fredonia unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 91-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of Neodesha. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Yellowjackets came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 212th).

Cherryvale's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Fredonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Cherryvale was taken down by Fredonia 69-28 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cherryvale was down 44-10.
