Soccer Game Preview: Sharpstown vs. Carnegie Vanguard

The Sharpstown Apollos will face off against the Carnegie Vanguard Rhinos at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Carnegie Vanguard took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sharpstown, who comes in off a win.

Sharpstown hadn't beaten Galena Park on the road since March 23, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Sharpstown who was credited with the victory. Sharpstown got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Galena Park's two.

Carnegie Vanguard fell victim to Waltrip and their airtight defense on Saturday. They lost 5-0 to the Rams. That's two games in a row now that the Rhinos have lost by exactly five goals.

Sharpstown has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those ten contests. Carnegie Vanguard dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
