Soccer Game Preview: Cerritos vs. Glenn

The Cerritos Dons will venture away from home to face off against the Glenn Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Glenn took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cerritos, who comes in off a win.

Cerritos' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Oxford Academy 3-0. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Patriots are ranked 664th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Glenn didn't have quite enough to beat Artesia on Wednesday and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one goal.

Their goal came courtesy of Ricardo Rodriguez, who's now up to five this season.

Cerritos is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-1-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matchups. As for Glenn, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5-2.

Cerritos beat Glenn by a goal in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cerritos since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
