Basketball Game Preview: Burnet Bulldogs vs. Marble Falls Mustangs

Burnet and Marble Falls are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Burnet Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Marble Falls Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Burnet saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 58-39 bruising from Vandegrift. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Vipers are ranked 88th).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-29, which was the final score in Marble Falls' tilt against Brownwood on Tuesday.

Marble Falls' record now sits at 7-16. As for Burnet, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Burnet against Marble Falls in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 61-34 win. Will Burnet repeat their success, or does Marble Falls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
