The Dunlap Eagles will take on the Forreston Cardinals at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dunlap was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Canton on Thursday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Little Giants a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the game before.
Landon Gray tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryder Rennette, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Tresenriter, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Forreston entered their tilt with Milledgeville on Friday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They put the hurt on the Missiles with a sharp 8-0 victory.
Brendan Greenfield made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Carson Akins was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Dunlap is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Forreston, they pushed their record up to 24-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dunlap has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Forreston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts.
