Baseball Recap: Wekiva Triumphs

Wekiva's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Oak Ridge Pioneers by a score of 10-6. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Devon Johnson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Wekiva's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Enrique Polanco, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Wekiva's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Oak Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Wekiva has already played their next game, a 17-4 loss against Gateway on the 13th. As for Oak Ridge, they will face off against Cocoa at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Ridge is facing Cocoa at the right time seeing as Cocoa is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
