Football Recap: Mt. Pleasant Kilties vs. Burrillville Broncos
Mt. Pleasant couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Thursday as they fell 42-24 to the Burrillville Broncos. The Kilties gained 88 more yards on the day, but it was the Broncos that made the best use of them.
Despite the defeat, Mt. Pleasant saw an underclassman step up: Jordan Robertson threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 37 yards. Jose Perez was Robertson's top target, picking up 93 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Burrillville had a senior duo take command as Logan Gelinas rushed for 58 yards and three touchdowns and Leland Kelleher rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Mt. Pleasant will head out to take on Woonsocket at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Burrillville, they will take on Barrington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
